How Pool Builders Wichita Works

Pool Builders Wichita designs and builds inground pools for homes in Wichita and across Sedgwick County and nearby South-Central Kansas: custom concrete pools, fiberglass pools, vinyl liner pools, built-in spas, and the decks and patios around them. We also remodel and resurface older pools.

Every project starts in your backyard, not on a brochure. We look at the slope of the lot, where water drains after a storm, how close the house, fence lines and easements are, where the utility lines run, and how equipment and an excavator will get in. Those details decide which pool type, size and location make sense, and they change the price more than most people expect.

Kansas adds its own conditions. Many soils here hold a lot of clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry, so the base under a pool shell and its deck needs real attention. Wichita averages about 65 days a year at 90°F or hotter, but the average freeze window runs from late October into early April, so heating, covers and winterizing are part of the plan from day one, not an afterthought.

Permits are part of the job. Inside Wichita and in unincorporated Sedgwick County, building and trade permits for swimming pools go through the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD); other cities run their own building departments. Wichita's city code also sets barrier rules for pools and spas; published summaries describe a fence or wall at least 60 inches tall with gates kept latched, and MABCD can confirm the current requirement. Permits for the pool are part of the project plan, and the fence or barrier is planned with the pool, not after it.

How we work

  • A free on-site visit to measure, check access and talk through how you want to use the pool.
  • A written, itemized quote: shell, excavation, plumbing, equipment, electrical, deck, fence and permits listed separately.
  • A written payment schedule in the quote showing when each payment is due and what work it covers.
  • Kansas 811 utility locates requested before any digging.
  • A walk-through at the end covering equipment, water chemistry startup and how to close the pool for winter.
